as a=b=x

solving

2 {x}^{2}  + 2 {x}^{2}  \cos( \alpha )  = 2n {x}^{2}  - 2n {x}^{2}  \cos( \alpha )

 \cos( \alpha ) (n + 1) = (n - 1)
