Hey Dear,

◆ Answer -

11 L from 1st vessel and 24 L from 2nd vessel is required.

● Explanation -

We want diesel : kerosene = 4 : 1 in final container of 35 L.

Hence, we want -

Diesel = 35 × 4/(4+1) = 28 L

Kerosene = 35 × 1/(4+1) = 7 L

Let's consider we take x L from first vessel -

Diesel = x × 8/(8+3) = 8x/11 L

Kerosene = x × 3/(8+3) = 3x/11 L

Let's consider we take y L from second vessel -

Diesel = y × 5/(5+1) = 5y/6 L

Kerosene = y × 1/(5+1) = y/6 L

Thus, equation for total diesel will be -

28 = 8x/11 + 5y/6

7 = 3x/11 + y/6

Solving these,

x = 11 L

y = 24 L

Hence, we have to take 11 L from 1st vessel and 24 L from 2nd vessel to fill container.
