two water taps together can fill 9 3 8 hours. the tap of larger diameter takes 10 hours less than the smaller one fill the tank separately.

Explanation:

let the time taken by smaller diameter tap be x

therefore the time taken by larger diameter=x-10

water filled by the small diameter tap in 1 hour=1/x

therefore water filled by the larger diameter tap=1/x-10

eq.-1/x+1/x-10=8/75

solve the equation and you will get the final equation as :

4x2-115x+375,8x2-230x+750

factorise it and you will get the answers as x=25 and x=15/4.

but ×=15/4 is not possible because then the time of the larger diameter tap will come negative

hence time taken by smaller tap is 25 hours whereas time taken by larger tap is (25-10)=15 hours.
