Solution :-

We know that,

  • Whole numbers starts from 0 and goes upto positive infinity.
  • All natural numbers are whole numbers .

So, let two whole numbers whose sum is 5 are x and y .

then,

→ x + y = 5

putting values now, At x = 0 :-

→ 0 + y = 5

→ y = 5

at x = 1 :-

→ 1 + y = 5

→ y = 5 - 1

→ y = 4

at x = 2 :-

→ 2 + y = 5

→ y = 5 - 2

→ y = 3

at x = 3 :-

→ 3 + y = 5

→ y = 5 - 3

→ y = 2

at x = 4 :-

→ 4 + y = 5

→ y = 5 - 4

→ y = 1

at x = 5 :-

→ 5 + y = 5

→ y = 5 - 5

→ y = 0

therefore, two whole numbers whose sum is 5 are :-

  • (0, 5) or (5, 0)
  • (1, 4) or (4, 1)
  • (2, 3) or (3, 2)
