(b) (i) For wire A, R1=ρlA1 and for wire B, R1=ρlA2 Thus, R2R1=A1A2

Since R1=4R2,R2R1=14 Thus, A1A2=14

(ii) As A1=πr21 and A2=πr22,A1A2=πr21πr22=(r1r2)2

As A1A2=14,(r1r2)2=14 or r1r2=12.
