Solution:

As,​ wires are to be cut into pieces of equal length so we have to find HCF of 12 and 16.

{HCF is highest common factor}

Now find HCF of  12 , 16

12 = 2 × 2 × 3

16 =2 × 2 × 2 × 2

common factor are 2 × 2

= 4

so the HCF of 12 and 16 is 4

Hence, the maximum length of each piece be 4m.
