Two wires one of Copper and Nichrome have equal lengths and equal resistances. Which wire is thicker? Give the resistivity of copper is lower than that of Nichrome ?​

Answer:

Given Lcu = Lni and Rcu = Rni.

So, ρLcu/Acu = ρLni/Ani

=> Acu = Ani .

Since, area of cross section of both wires so, both are have equal width. no one is thicker than other. Since, resistivity is also depends upon material and copper is the most good conductor of electricity so, resistivity of Copper is lower than Nichrome.

Nichrome has more resistivity than copper. Hence for equal length and resistance it has to to be thicker since resistance is inversely proportional to the diameter of the wire.
