let A can do alone the work in x days
let B can do alone the work in y days
CASE-I
A's 1 day work =1/x
B's 1day work  =1/y
(A+B)'s 1day work =1/5
therefore,1/x+1/y=1/5    ------------(1)
CASE-II
A had worked as efficiently as he actually did nd B had worked 1/3 as he actually did
A's 1day work =2/x
B's 1day work =1/3y
(A+B)'s 1 day work =1/3
therefore,2/x+1/3y=1/3 ----------------(2)
solving eqn (1) nd (2)
we get x=6.25
there fore A can alone work in 6.25 days
