Two years ago, a father was five times as old as his son. Two years later, his age will be
8 more than three times the age of the son. Find the present ages of father and son.​

Let the fathers age be x

Let the son's age be y

Acc. To first condition

x-2=5(y-2)

x-2=5y-10

x-5y=-8....... (1)

After two years

x+2=8+3(y+2)

x+2=8+3y+6

x-3y=12..... (2)

Eliminating 1and2 eq.

x-5y=-8

x-3y=12

y=10

Son's age is 10

Father's age is 38 yrs
