Answer :

A's age = 10years.

Step-by-step-explaination

2 Years Ago

☞ Two , years ago , A was five times as old as B.

Let the age of A 2 years ago = x

So, B's age 2 years ago = 5x

Present Age

☞ 2 Years later age will also increase with 2 years.

A = x + 2

B = 5x + 2

2 Years later Age

A = x + 2 + 2. = x + 4

B = 5x + 2 + 2. = 5x + 4

According to whole story ,

 \bf \:(5x + 4) - 3(x + 4) = 8

Solving the obtained equation :

 \bf \implies \: 5x + 4 - 3x - 12 = 8

\bf \implies \: 2x  - 8 = 8

\bf \implies \: 2x = 16

\bf \implies \: x =  \frac{16}{2}

\bf \implies \: x = 8

Present age of A

A = x + 2

A = 8 + 2

A = 10years

Present age of B (not asked)

B = 5x + 2

B = 5 × 8 + 2

B = 42 years

How do you frame a question into equation ?

  • An equation usually consists of terms and variables.

  • The variables carries unknown value , which is generally intended to find.

  • In an equation we substitute the known values and perform few addition and subtraction to find out the value of unknown.

  • Solving an equation has. a bas on undoing an operation.

  • An operation can be undone by performing an opposite operation like performing subtraction over addition to find out unknown.

  • The most important and first step to solve an equation is correctly framing it.
