two years ago dilip was 3 times as old his son and two years hence twice his age will be equal to five times of his son .find their parents age

Hii friend,

Let the present Age of dilip and his son is X and Y year's respectively.

Before two years age of dilip = (X-2) years.

Before two years age of son = (Y-2) years.

According to question,

(X-2) = 3(Y-2)

X-2 = 3Y -6

X-3Y -2+6 = 0

X-3Y+4 = 0......(1)

After two years age of dilip = (X+2) years.

After two years age of son = (Y+2) years.

According to question,

2(X+2) = 5(Y+2)

2X +4 = 5Y +10

2X-5Y -6 = 0.....(2)

From equation (1) we get,

X-3Y = -4

X = -4+3Y....(3)

Putting the value of X in equation (2)

2X -5Y = 6

2 × (-4+3Y) -5Y = 6

-8 +6Y -5Y = 6

Y = 6+8

Y = 14 years.

Putting the value of Y in equation (3)

X = -4 + 3Y

X = -4 + 3 × 14

X = -4 + 42=> 38 years.


Hence,

Present age of dilip = X = 38 years

And,

Present age of his son = Y = 14 years.
