Let the present age of salim be x and yhat of his daughter be y

2 years ago age of salim=x-2

age of daughter=y-2

(x-2)=3(y-2)

x-3y=-4

after 6 years

x+6=4+2(y+6)

x-2y=10

Upon solving the above two eq we get y=14

Answer:-

Let the age of Salim be S years and his daughter's be D years.

Given:

Two years ago Salim was thrice as old as his daughter.

Age of Salim before two years = S - 2

Age of Salim's daughter before two years = D - 2.

According to the above condition,

→ S - 2 = 3(D - 2)

→ S = 3D - 6 + 2

S = 3D - 4 -- equation (1).

And,

After six years he will be twice her age.

→ S + 6 = 2(D + 6)

→ S + 6 = 2D + 12

Substitute S value from equation (1).

→ 3D - 4 = 2D + 12

→ 3D - 2D = 12 + 4

D = 16

Substitute D value in equation (1)

→ S = 3(16) - 4

S = 44

Hence, Age of Salim = 44 years and his daughter's age = 16 years.
