Two years ago ,the ratio of sarita'sage andsupriya's age was 3:8.Four years hence,the ratio of there age will bi4:9 . Whatis the present age of sarita?

Let the present age of Sarita be x years

and the present age of Supriya be y years.

Two years ago;

Sarita's age= (x-2) years

Supriya's age = (y-2)years

Four years hence;

Sarita's age=(x+5) years

supriya's age=(y+5) years

Now , according to question;

=>. (x-2):(y-2)=3:8

=> (x-2)/(y-2)=3/8

=> 8(x-2) =3(y-2)

=> 8x - 16 = 3y - 6

=> 8x - 3y = 10. ___________(i)

also,

=> (x+5):(y+5)=4:9

=> ( x+5)/(y+5)= 4/9

=> 9(x+5)=4(y+5)

=> 9x + 45 = 4y + 20

=> 4y = 9x+25

=> y= (9x +25)/4. ___________(ii)

now putting the expression of y in eq.__(I). we get,

=> 8x -3(9x+25)/4= 10

=> 32x -27x -75=40

=> 5x =115

=> x= 115/5

=> x=23

using eq.__(ii),we get,

y = (9×23 + 25)/4

=(207+25)/4

=232/4

= 58

hence , Sarita's present age is 23 years and supriya's present age is 58 years..
