Answer:

The present age of

(i) girl = 10 years

(ii) boy = 22 years

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the present age of girl be x and the present age of boy be y. Then

According to the question,

Equation (i) 2 + y = 2(x + 2)

=> 2 + y = 2x + 4 => 2x - y = -2

Equation (ii) y - 4 = 3(x - 4)

=> y - 4 = 3x - 12 => 3x - y = 8

Subtracting the equation(i) from equation(ii) , we get

x = 10

Therefore, y= 2x + 2 = 3x - 8 = 22

Then the present age of

(i) girl = 10 years

(ii) boy = 22 years
