Gravity. Gravity (which affects all celestial bodies in the universe) pull and push on each other, which is why planets are spheres (pull of the star vs the pull of the planet causes enough friction to make a sphere).

As we know.. by newton's law, Matter in motion will continue moving in a straight line. Forces cause a change in motion, like speeding up or slowing down the object.
