Answer:

A chromosome is a long DNA molecule with part or all of the genetic material of an organism. Most eukaryotic chromosomes include packaging proteins called histones which, aided by chaperone proteins, bind to and condense the DNA molecule to maintain its integrity.

Chromosomes are of four types. They are:-

1) Metacentric

2) Submetacentric

3) Acrocentric

4) Telocentric

Definition of each type-

1) Metacentric :- Metacentric chromosomes have the centromere located midway between the ends of the chromosome, separating the two arms of the chromosome.

2) Submetacentric:- Chromosomes with centromeres positioned visibly off-center are called submetacentric.

3) Acrocentric:- A chromosome in which the centromere is very close to one end is called Acrocentric.

4) Telocentric:- A telocentric chromosome's centromere is located at the terminal end of the chromosome.
