Comparison of metallic conduction and electric conduction:

Metallic conduction:

1)the current is carried by the electrons in the conduction band.

2) the velocity of the electrons is very large.

3) during passage of current no chemical reaction occurs.

Electrolytic conduction:

1) the current is carried by both cations and anions.

2) Ionic velocities are mass smaller than electron velocities.

3) Passages of current brings about chemical reactions ,heat is also involved.
