There are various types of disasters like floods, earthquakes, fires, heat waves, drought, etc.

A disaster is an event occurring for a short or long period of time and causing a huge human and environmental loss. There are mainly two kinds of disasters namely natural and man-made disasters.

The different and common types of disasters are as follows:

  • Earthquake-

The most common and dangerous disaster is an earthquake. It can be caused due to natural reasons and man-made too. An earthquake causes huge damage to human life. It also results in other disasters.

  • Floods-

Floods are caused by heavy rainfall, high flow of water, and earthquakes too. The flooded area gets filled with water and can stop day-to-day human activities. It is classified as a natural disaster.

  • Tsunamis-

A tsunami is somewhat similar to a flood but with greater effects and damage to human life. It can also be a result of an earthquake, landslide, or volcanic eruption.

  • Fires-

Another result of these natural disasters can be fire. Fires are a type of man-made disaster. A huge loss of forests and humans is caused by it.
