There are two types of laten heat:
i) laten heat of fusion
This refers to the heat given to a solid to change it into liquid without letting the temperature rise.
ii) laten heat of vaporization
This refers to the heat given to a liquid to change it into gas.
The unit of laten heat heat is joules per kilogram (j/kg)
