★ Types of matter:-

→ Matter is of three types:-

• Solids
• Liquids
• Gases.

★ General characteristics of solids:-

→ In solids, the particles are held very close to each other and there is no freedom of movement.

→ They are definite shape and definite volume.

★ General characteristics of liquids:-

→ In liquids, the particles are close to each other but they can move around.

→ They have definite volume but do not have definite shape.

★ General characteristics of gases:-

→ In gases, the particles are far apart and their movement is easy and fast.

→ They do not have definite volume and definite shape.

→ They completely occupy the container in which they are placed.

★ Note:-

→ These three physical states of matter are interconvertible depending on the temperature and pressure.
