Matter can be classified into two on the basis of it's chemical composition :

Pure substance : Whose matter particles are constant and are made up of one type of atom/molecule.

Mixtures : Whose particles are not of a single type and may be a group of two or more elements.

The mixture may be physically visible (Heterogeneous mixture) or not(Homogeneous mixture).
