Microbes are defined as microorganisms that can either occur as unicellular organisms or in the form of colonies. There are different types of microbes i.e. bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoa and algae. They have different shapes and structures but common structures present in all microbes are cell wall that protects them from host and give shape to the cell and cytoplasm that consist of organelles and sites for the synthesis of energy. Mostly microbes are parasitic in nature e.g. fungi cause ringworms, bacteria and viruses also cause infectious diseases. They are also useful to human e.g. bacteria are used to make yogurt and are also used as antibiotics.
