when a body is set into oscillation ,it oscillates with natural fequency.The frequency of oscilation produced depends upon the geometry and the nature of the oscillating body.In genral ,the frequency of the oscillations produced by the body is given by

V0 =1/2under root k/m

where k and m are called spring factor and interia factor respectively. If there are no dissipating forces such as friction due to air,the body will be produced oscillation constant amplitude . Such oscillation are called undamped oscillation.

In nature many types of dissiparting forces are operating .As oscillator oscillates apart ot its energy is used up in overcoming these dissipating forces are likewishes during each oscillation ,its amplitude goes on in decreasing .Such oscillations are known as Damped oscillation.

There are three main types of oscillations

Oscillation refers to any Periodic Motion moving at a distance about the equilibrium position and repeat itself over and over for a period of time . Example The Oscillation up and down of a Spring , The Oscillation side by side of a Spring.There are two kinds of electronic oscillators are available, namely linear oscillator and nonlinear oscillator. The linear oscillator gives the sinusoidal whereas nonlinear oscillator gives non sinusoidal or complex waveforms like square, sawtooth, trapezoidal and rectangular.Oscillation is a definite distance covered by the movement about its equilibrium position, vibration is referred to the physical change brought about due to movement of the body. Oscillation can be seen in the swinging of a pendulum clock and vibration in the plucking of guitar string.
