Correct Question :

The ratio of the prices of two books is 2 : 5. If the price of of the first book is Rs. 32.50 Find the price of the other book.

AnswEr :

  • Ratio = 2 : 5
  • First Book Price = Rs. 32.50

Let the Price of Books be 2n and, 5n.

According to the Question Now :

\longrightarrow\texttt{1st Book Price = Rs. 32.50}\\\\\\\longrightarrow\tt 2n = Rs. 32.50\\\\\\\longrightarrow\tt n = \cancel\dfrac{Rs. 32.50}{2}\\\\\\\longrightarrow\blue{\tt n = Rs.\: 16.25}

\rule{200}{1}

Price of Second Book :

\longrightarrow\texttt{2nd Book Price = 5n}\\\\\\\longrightarrow\texttt{2nd Book Price = 5(Rs. 16.25)}\\\\\\\longrightarrow\boxed{\red{\texttt{2nd Book Price = Rs. 81.25}}}

\underline{\therefore\:\textsf{Price of the second Book is \textbf{Rs. 81.25}}}

\rule{200}{2}

V E R I F I C A T I O N :

:\implies\tt 1st Book : 2nd Book = 2 : 5\\\\\\:\implies\tt \dfrac{Rs. 32.50}{Rs. 81.25} =\dfrac{2}{5}\\\\\qquad\scriptsize{\bf{\dag}\:\textsf{Cancellation of Rs. and Decimals}}\\\\:\implies\tt \dfrac{3250}{8125} =\dfrac{2}{5}\\\\\qquad\scriptsize{\bf{\dag}\:\textsf{Dividing LHS by 25}}\\\\:\implies\tt \dfrac{130}{325} =\dfrac{2}{5}\\\\\qquad\scriptsize{\bf{\dag}\:\textsf{Dividing LHS by 65}}\\\\:\implies\large\tt 2 : 5 = 2 : 5

The ratio of the prices of two books is 2:5. If the price of the first book is 32.50.

\bf{\Large{\underline{\bf{To\:find\::}}}}

The price of the other book.

\bf{\Large{\underline{\tt{\orange{Explanation\::}}}}}

\bf{Given}\begin{cases}\sf{The\:ratio\:of\:the\:price\:of\:book\:=\:2\::\:5}\\ \sf{The\:first\:book\:of\:price\:=\:Rs.32.50}\end{cases}}

Let the other book of price be R.

A/q

\implies\sf{2:5\:=\:32.50:R}

\implies\sf{\dfrac{2}{5} \:=\:\dfrac{32.50}{R} }

\bf{\Large{\boxed{\tt{Cross\:-\:Multiplication\::}}}}}

\implies\sf{2R\:=\:32.50*5}

\implies\sf{2R\:=\:162.5}
