Let the age of the person be a.
Let the age of his two sons be b.
Given that the age of a person is twice the sum of the ages of his two sons.
=> a = 2b ---- (1)
Given that After 5 years his age was thrice the sum of their ages.
= > a - 5 = 3(b - 5 - 5)
= > a - 5 = 3(b - 10)
= > a - 5 = 3b - 30
= > 2b - 5 = 3b - 30
= > b = 25.
Substitute b = 25 in (1), we get
a = 2(25)
= > a = 50.
Therefore the present age of that person = 50 years.
Hope this helps!
