U² = 17 / 4


=> U = √17/4


√ 17 cannot be simplified. Hence it will remain as √17 as such.


√ 4 = 2


Hence U is equal to :


U = + √17 / 2 , - √17 / 2


Since √ 17 is an irrational number, √ 17 / 2 is also an irrational number.
