Answer by Fombitz(32378) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!

If the box was solid,

V%5Bs%5D=20%2A15%2A10=3000cc

Since it's not, subtract out the volume of the air space, by subtracting 1 cm from each side of each dimension.

V%5Ba%5D=18%2A13%2A8=1872cc

So then,

V=V%5Bs%5D-V%5Ba%5D=3000-1872=1128cc

Convert the volume to cubic decimeters using,

10cm=1dm

10%5E3=1000cc=1cd

So then,

1872%281%2F1000%29=1.872cd

And finally,

m=rho%2AV

m=1%281.872%29=1.872kg
