A. Identify the cation 'X' and 'Y' in the following solutions.

(i) "XSO4' if bubbled through an aqueous solution of ammonia - gives a
reddish brown precipitate, insoluble in excess.
(ii) XCI' on heating with NaOH solution evolves a gas - which turns a solution
of methyl orange - yellow.
"KY' reacts with concentrated sulphuric acid and copper on heating to give
a gas which turns Kl paper brown.
(iv) 'Na2Y' on heating with dil. H2SO4 evolves a gas which turns lead acetate
.

"K2Y' on heating with dil. HCl gives a gas that turns lime water milky and
acidified K2Cr207 solution from orange to clear green.
