The Value Of X + Y/20 Is 1.2

GIVEN

Moles of Sodium borohydride = x

Moles of Acetaldehyde = y

TO FIND

Value of x+y/20

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows -

Sodium borohydride is mild reducing agent that reduces acetaldehyde to alcohol in the presence of an alcoholic solvent.

NaBH₄ + 4CH₃CHO ------------> 4C₂H₅OH

From the reaction, we can say :

1 mole of NaBH₄ reacts with 4 moles of CH₃CHO

so,

Value of x = 1

value of y = 4

we have to calculate the value of x + y/20

We can write it as,

1 +  \frac{4}{20}

1 + 0.2 = 1.2

Hence, The Value Of X + Y/20 Is 1.2
