5. Read the passage given below.
Swami Vivekananda was born as Narendra Nath in Calcutta on
12 January, 1863. As he grew up his mind was continually filled
with questions about God. After meeting his spiritual teacher,
Shri Ramakrishna, he was seized by a desire to become a monk
He travelled extensively through India to see how the people
lived. He was pained to see the abject poverty of Indian people.
He was shocked to see the condition of rural India.I OC Edhe
Vivekananda determined to solve the problems of the people

the people. This meant getting everyone to contribute towards helping the poor in

and falsehood that had enveloped it in the name of religion. For this the whole nation
had to be infused with the ideal of service of man as the true worship of God.
Later Vivekananda travelled and lectured across America and Europe. During his tour
he made many friends and disciples. One disciple was a lady from England, Margaret
Noble, who was later known as Sister Nivedita. She followed him to India and became
a sanyasin, devoting herself completely to the service of India.
