can fill an empty tank in 30 minute, then how much time will the slower pipe
alone take to fill the tank?

p1 is the faster pipe and p2 is the slower pipe

p2=3p1

p1/p2 = 1/3

suppose p1 fills in x hrs

               p2 fills in 3x hrs

given both can fill a tank in 30min

1/x +1/3x = 1/30

by solving we get x=40

therefore the time taken  by slower pipe is 3x = 3 * 40 =120min= 2hrs
