umananda temple is shiva temple located at the peacock island in the middle of bramhaputra river. it was built by a ahom king gadadhar Singh(1681-1696). who was devote shaivate. it is known as smallest inhabited riverine Island in the world. during the Mughal rule in kamarupa, the umananda temple receive grants from the Mughal emperor Jahangir and Aurangzeb. sadly The Mighty temple was heavily damage in an earthquake in 1897. it was later rebuilt by the rich Merchant who as a devoted Lord Shiva.
