umesh is now 5 years older than mahesh. in 10 years, umesh will be four times as old as mahesh was 10 years ago. Find their present age.

Given Data : Umesh is now five year older than Mahesh. Let Present age of Mahesh  = x years , So

Present age of Umesh = ( x + 5 ) years

Age of Mahesh after 10 years  = ( x + 10 )years , So

Age of Umesh 10 years ago = ( x - 5 ) years

Also given : In 10 years, Umesh will be 4 times as old as Mahesh was 10 years ago , So

( x + 10 ) = 4 ( x - 5 ) ,

x  + 10 = 4 x  - 20 ,

3 x  = 30 ,

x  = 10

Therefore,

Present age of Mahesh  = 10 years

And

Present age of Umesh = ( 10 + 5 ) = 15  years                                           ( Ans )
