They process of breaking down of adenosine triphosphate, ATP molecules to generate energy is simply knows as respiration. But here Phosphoenolpyruvate is breaking and is converted into pyruvate, which is converted to acetyl-coenzyme and the reaction be like :-

This reaction is a rate-limiting step in gluconeogenesis: GTP + oxaloacetate → GDP + phosphoenolpyruvate + CO.

in simple word, in such process usually a hydroxyethyl group is oxidized to an acetyl group, and the electrons are picked up by NAD+, forming NADH (the reduced form of NAD+).

and Phosphoenolpyruvate is being catalyzed by the enzyme know as pyruvate kinase., The oxidative decarboxylation of pyruvate produce " NADH " as a result.

Explanation:

- Phosphoenolpyruvate (2-phosphoenolpyruvate, PEP) whose chemical formula is C3H5O6P and the first product of carbon dioxide fixation is a 3-carbon compound (PGA). Whereas the reaction given is the reaction of respiration which is taken place in mitochondria of cell during glycolysis and link the Kreb's Cycle and the process of Glycolysis to produce or generate energy to our body.
