Unattempted The difference between a two digit number and the number obtained by inter-changing the digit is 54. What is the difference of the two digits of the number?

and let the digit on the tenths place of A be X and the digit on the ones place be Y.

then we can write A as

         A= 10X + Y

now, let the number obtained by interchanging the digits of A be B.

here Y will be on tenths place of B and X will be on ones place of B.

so

          B= 10Y + X

now ,we know  A - B = 54

so, 10X + Y - (10Y + X) = 54

10X + Y - 10Y - X =54

9X - 9Y = 54

9(X - Y) = 54

X - Y = 6

Hence the difference between the two digits of the number is 6.
