Answer:

here your answer................

Step-by-step explanation:

let the present ages of Jason and his

nephew Ralph is 2x and x

10 year's ago their ages,

Jason=2x-10,

and

Ralph=x-10.

According to question

2x-10=3(x-10)

2x-10=3x-30

2x-3x=-30+10

-x=-20

x=20

therefore the present ages of Jason

is 2x=2×20=40 year's.

and

his nephew Ralph age 20 year's.

Let present age of Jason be "M" years and present age of Ralph be "N" years.

Uncle Jason is twice as old as his nephew Ralph.

According to question,

→ M = 2 × N

→ M = 2N _____ (eq 1)

Ten years ago, he was three times as old aa Ralph.

Now,

  • Age of Jason = (M - 10) years
  • Age of Ralph = (N - 10) years

According to question,

→ M - 10 = 3(N - 10)

→ M - 10 = 3N - 30

→ M - 3N = - 30 + 10

→ 2N - 3N = - 20 [From (eq 1)]

→ - N = - 20

→ N = 20

Put value of N in (eq 1)

→ M = 2(20)

→ M = 40

Present age of uncle Jason is 40 years and present age of his nephew Ralph is 20 years.

Verification :

From above calculations we have M = 40 and N = 20

According to question, we have equations :

1) M = 2N

2) M - 10 = 3(N - 10)

Put value of M and N in (eq 1)

=> 40 = 2(20)

=> 40 = 40

Similarly, put value of M and N in (eq 2)

=> 40 - 10 = 3(20 - 10)

=> 30 = 3(10)

=> 30 = 30
