Answer:

Stratified random sampling is appropriate whenever there is heterogeneity in a population that can be classified with ancillary information; the more distinct the strata, the higher the gains in precision. The same population can be stratified multiple times simultaneously.

Stratified random sampling design is considered under:-

  • It is applied to gain an illustrative sample, if a community from which a sample has to be taken does not build up a homogeneous group then, the community is split into various sub-communities (strata)  which are independently extra homogeneous than the overall community.
  • So, we will decide and select the stratum to build a sample. All stratum is extra homogeneous than the overall community so, we would be able to achieve extra good evaluation for every stratum.
  • For selecting such items as a sample from every stratum, have resources that are easy for random sampling. e.g, suppose a company considers a financial plan and the impact of these plans on the attitude of employees could be studied with stratification by the role of sector or field.
