A researcher considers using stratified sampling when s/he wants to:

1) observe relationshop between subgroups of a population.

2) observe a specific subgroup in a population. This is especially when the population is heterogeneous.

3) cover or get sample even for the rare extremes of a population because there is equal sampling for all subgroups in a population.

**Remember that the subgroups should not overlap, meaning, the no two samples of different subgroups are not repeated or the same.**
