FIR is an important document because it sets the process of criminal justice in motion. It is only after the FIR is registered in the police station that the police take up investigation of the case. Anyone who knows about the commission of a cognizable offence, including policeofficers, can file an FIR.

The police decides not to investigate on a case even if FIR has been filed under following curcumstances...
i) If the FIR is found to be false
ii) If criminal is not found after all efforts
iii) If the case is neither true nor false
iv) If the filer is the criminal himself
Mark as brainliest if you like it.
