the displacement of body is said to be zero when an object is moving from one point to another in perpendicular or 90 degrees.....

Say a man started from his house and covered a distance of 1 km to the market. He then comes back home..

So total distance traveled by him is 2 km

But the displacement is not the same.Displacement is the shortest path from initial point to final point. Here, initial point and final point of the man is same so the net displacement is zero.

The condition here is that for resultant displacement to be zero the initial and final point of the motion should be same.
