There are a variety of resources available in the environment and which human beings exploit to utilize. Those that exist but have not been exploited are referred to as potential resource.

some resources may be available but in a form which they cannot be utilized. Reserve resource which includes technology may not be available to facilitate the exploitation of the available resource. The unexploited resource is referred to as stock resource since no profit can be gained from it. If technology is use to refine it and make it profitable then it becomes a developed resource
