Answer:

The princely state of Avadh or Oudh was annexed by the Company on the pretext of Mis-Rule or Mis-government.

The East India Company under the Governor-General Lord Dalhousie annexed the princely state of Avadh on the pretext of mias-government. Accordingly the Nawab of Avadh, Wajid Ali Shah was deposed and it was annexed to Company in 1856. It became one of the reasons of 1857 Revolt.

Answer:

In 1801, a subsidiary alliance was imposed on Awadh, and in 1856, it was taken over. Governor-General Dalhousie declared that the territory was being misgoverned and British rule was needed to ensure proper administration.
