When the news reached Madras the Company sent forces and naval fleets under the command of Robert Clive. Finally in 1757 Companies army led by Robert Clive fought against Siraj-ud-daulah at Plassey and defeated Siraj-ud-daulah, putting him to death. Mir Qasim was put on the throne as the Nawab of Bengal by the Company.
