The Lightning River ("rivière aux éclairs", in French) flows on 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) in Upper Batiscanie in the province of Quebec, Canada, in the southwest direction. This river is located in the Zec de la Rivière-Blanche and is a tributary on the left bank of the Batiscan River. The watershed of the Lightning River is 294 km², the fifth largest pool of Batiscanie.[1]

Lightning strikes rivers, lakes, and oceans all the time. Nothing particularly noteworthy happens - the electric charge carried by the lightning flash is distributed outward from the point where the flash hits the water surface, more or less the same as when a lightning flash hits the ground.
