A girl in a pretty dress and a cheerful smile appeared from nowhere. I felt shy. On the other side of the barred window, the glorious sun was setting the evening sky aflame. Suddenly, I noticed a sombre man sitting on an upholstered divan with a Persian rug over his knees. Behind him was a spectacular painting by Van Gogh,

the crimson flowers and the golden cornfields had been painted with passion.
I was impressed by the interesting décor of the room.
However, the reigning silence was somewhat disturbing.​
