The eroded skin results in the undermining of wound edges. Undermining is screened through the probe under the wound which is directed parallel to the wound until any external resistance is felt.
The underlying means cutting the fibrous setae which connect the skin to the layer facia which is supported by scalpel beneath the dermis. Usually cotton tip applicator is used to check the undermining using it in area of wound edge region.
