What should I do to be a top student?

Ah, interesting question! Firstly, there’s no such thing as ‘top’ students or ‘bottom’ students. There are only students who grasp concepts fast and those who take time to learn new topics. This is exactly why a one-size-fits-all approach has never and will never work when it comes to learning. However there are approaches to become a better learner that our teaching experts swear by, we call it the SAVER technique: 1. Stay curious: The eagerness to learn can at times make all the difference. So keep yourself interested and curious by asking as many questions as you like, conducting safe experiments, and watching movies/documentaries on topics being covered at school. 2. Associate: You’d be able to learn better if you associate new information to what you already know. If you are learning ab

I don't think it's that difficult, it's just that most people don't want to.

Let's see a scenario to understand:

You are diabetic but also fond of sweets. Even though doctors has mentioned that sugar is similar to poison for you, you will try to give yourself a reason to have a bite. Yeah, it's my daughter's birthday, one gulab jamun won't harm. Anyhow I am taking all the medication, doing yoga and stuff.

This seems quite normal, right?

On the other hand your son says that he wants to become a writer. But you won't approve for it or atleast would suggest him to keep studying and try to be writer side by side.

Again quite natural, right?

It's a fact that the generic way to get settled in India is to get a job. And this is the right decision to make, then why my son don't understand that.

Now coming back to my point. The whole society revolves around certain rules, legality, right and wrongs. But we always try to give an exception/excuse to ourselves even though we know it's wrong to do so. Whereas same mindset don't work when we refer to third person.

This is where all misunderstanding begins and we refuse to understand others.

This tendency to judge everything in terms of 0–1 or right or wrong blurs our judgement. There is an old saying, you won't understand what I went through unless you walk in my shoe.

Even sometime people claims that I did try to understand him considering what I would have done if I was in his place. But for you it would be easier to bend toward right decision because you love sweets and not writing.

I believe one should be consistent with there thought process and also consider others. But again if the world would have been ideal then you might not have been posted this question to Quora.

To summarise, if you don't give an exception to yourself then you can suggest in similar fashion but still you shouldn't judge anyone for their decisions. Let them fall, let them learn from their own mistakes.
