India supported Britain against Germany in the first world war, thinking that after winning the war, they would accept India's demands of Swaraj.

Even though India didn’t wanted to join the fight in World War II it did because of the hope for freedom.

Eventually, many great leaders of congress like Gandhi didn’t like the action of Hitler and his action over Poland. This is also considered as a reason for India’s Allie with the British forces.

The above explanation only support the incidents of World War II. But in World War I many of the Indians fought side by side along with the British as paid soldiers.
