Unequal access to basic services is an indicator of the underlying problem. South Africa has vast wealth inequality. After 1994, the hope was that this would change. However, the only thing that has changed is the colour of the oppressor. There are now as many wealthy black people as there are white. This, on the face of it, appears to be a good thing. The reality though is not so good. The wealthy black population is not a result of economic growth, but rather, these people have simply replaced the millions of white South Africans who emigrated to other shores......

Yes, according to me, unequal access to even the basic household services leads to criminal activities.

• The chief reason for crime is unemployment owing to an incompetent government destroying the economy.

• Poverty levels are still unacceptably high in South Africa which is catastrophic since we are supposed to be living in a new free, fair democracy.

• When the poor unable to fulfill their basic need, they may involve in criminal activities like looting and stealing.
