The poem 'Unfolding Bud", written by Naoshi Koriyama, a Japanese poet ,explains the relation of a small lotus bud with a poem.
1)Contrast between a poem and a story:-
According to narrator, when we read a story for the first time, we understand a lot of it properly. But we can't understand a poem just by a single reading. We must continue to read it twice or thrice to reveal its rich inner self.
2)The contrast between a poem and bud:-
When we see a bud at first glance, it has a dark and unpleasant colour. But when it grows slowly and reveals itself, we get a brief idea of how it will be. When it grows fully, the richness and extraordinary appearance of the flower is revealed.
Likewise, a poem cannot be understood on first reading. As we read it we don't get the complete idea of it. On the second reading, we get a brief idea of the true colours of the poem and on further reading, the poem, reveals its rich inner self.
